Gertrudes B. (Monteiro) Moura, 86, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 26, 2019, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Jose B. Moura, who predeceased her on May 1, 2012.
Gertrudes was born on the Island of Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, on September 2, 1932, a daughter of the late Antonio Puim Monteiro and Maria Jacinta Braga. She immigrated to Hudson in 1974 along with her husband and family. She was employed by Thomas Taylor Company in Hudson for many years where she also raised her family and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Saint Michael Parish, the Holy Ghost Society and devoted much of her time to the Hudson Portuguese Club. Spending time with her family and friends brought her the greatest joy. True to her Portuguese roots she was a fantastic cook and loved to feed her family and friends with her delicious meals.
Gertrudes is survived by her children, Antonio Moura of Hudson, Aida Moura of Hudson, Lucia Bairos, wife of the late Dinis of Hudson, Lidia Scovil and her husband Dale of Hudson, Joe Moura of Hudson, David Moura and his wife Edilene of Fitchburg and the late Natalia Moura who died in 2004. She is also survived by her two sisters, Lurdes Chaves of Warehem and Beatriz Rego of Hudson; 13 grandchildren, Nelson, Lisa, Tracy, Kevin, Susan, Brian, Brenda, Jamie, Chelsey, Jonathan, Thomas, Stephen and Sean; her 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her three brothers, Antonio Monteiro, Jose Monteiro and Manuel Monteiro and two sisters, Rosa Carvalho and Gloria Rego.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, August 30, 2019, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson for committal services.
