James “Jim” Thomas Brooks, 78, of Hudson, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 30, 2019, at Marlborough Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife of 36 years, Kathleen (Eklund) Brooks.
Jim was born on January 3, 1941 in Concord, MA, a son of the late Stanley A. and Margaret G. (Hagan) Brooks. He was raised in Maynard, where he graduated from high school and continued studying at trade school to be a machinist. Jim was a hard worker and had a long career as a machinist working for many years in Hudson at Saliga Machine.
Jim was devout in his Catholic faith and was a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Church and Saint Michael Parish in Hudson, where he was an active member in the choir. He also shared his passion for singing at home while around the house. He was also an animal lover and especially loved his dogs. Jim will most be missed as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was an inspiration and role model for the rest of his family.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen (Eklund) Brooks; 6 children, Steve M. Brooks and his wife Natalie of Hudson, David J. Brooks and his wife Su of Spokane Valley, Washington, Amy E. Brooks of Half Moon Bay, CA, Nancy E. Hubert of Hudson, Richard D. Hubert of Hudson and Anne Marie Hubert and her companion Timothy Durkin of Hudson; a brother, Lawrence Brooks and his wife Deanne, 9 grandchildren, Amanda Rodrigues, Nicole, Shannon, James, Steven, Ariana and Anastasia Brooks, Patrick Kerrigan and Kenneth Durkin.
A Mass of Christian Burial wil lbe celebrated at 9 am on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; immediately followed by interment in Forestvale Cemetry in Hudson.
