Abby M. Matisko, a deeply loving and compassionate woman, passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on July 30, 1971, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Abby was raised in Brookfield, where she attended local schools and later graduated from Tantasqua High School in Sturbridge.
Abby was known for her heart and her instinct to care for others. She worked in home healthcare, most recently with AMADA In Home Senior Care Network in the Hudson area, where she made her home for many years. While her career reflected her nurturing nature, Abby’s greatest and most meaningful role was being a mother. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her two children, Reese Matisko of Maine and Rachel Matisko of Florida, by shaping their lives with unconditional love, patience, and strength. Her children were her greatest joy, her proudest accomplishment, and the center of her world.
Family meant everything to Abby. She treasured time spent with her mother, Anastasia Kenerson Holbrook, and her stepfather, Robert, holding those moments close to her heart. She was a beloved wife to Joseph R. Matisko Jr., with whom she shared 28 years of marriage. Abby’s warmth, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Abby found happiness in life’s simple, beautiful moments—walking her dogs, laughing with family, and escaping to the Cape Cod beaches she so dearly loved. Town Neck Beach in Sandwich, with its familiar boardwalk and peaceful shoreline, was among her favorite places, as were Eastham and cherished days spent at First Encounter Beach and Coast Guard Beach.
Abby leaves behind a legacy defined by love, compassion, and selflessness. She lived her life putting others first, and her memory will continue to live on through the lives she nurtured, the family she loved, and the countless hearts she touched.
