On Friday April 9,2021 Albert H Wilkinson, 84, of Marlboro passed away peacefully in his sleep, five months after suffering a stroke. His wife of 60 years, Elaine (Balben) Wilkinson was by his side at the time of his passing.
Albert served 6 years in the US Air Force, earning the rank of Sargent in the 66th Interceptor Squadron, he was a Korean War veteran and a two time Purple Heart recipient. He was a skilled aircraft mechanic and pilot, who was licensed for both small personal aircraft and float planes.
Albert enjoyed rebuilding aircraft, motorcycles and automobiles, and used to compete in the demolition derbys at the old Westboro Speedway. He was often found tinkering with a car, ATV, snowmobile or piece of heavy equipment. He was known for his ability to repair almost anything and took pleasure in keeping everyone's vehicles running smoothly. He was skilled at all aspects of building and took pride in the log homes he built in Maine. He was a long time member of the Worcester Fox and Coon Club, the Marlboro Fish and Game and the Teamsters Local 170. His dry sense of humor and willingness to assist were hallmarks of his character.
He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Elaine (Balben) Wilkinson, two daughters, Barbara Cyr and Kristin Wilkinson, three grandchildren, Courtney Cyr, Robert Cyr, jr and Adam Gaulin, two great-grandchildren, Travis and Oaklynn, his brother James Wilkinson, sister in-law Ann Wilkinson, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life in his honor at a later date.
