Alvah Chase, born on June 18, 1942, in Marlborough, MA, passed away on January 23, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Alvah leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication.
Alvah's professional journey began with his employment at the Raytheon Company, where he served as an ECO Writer for 25 years before retiring in 2007. His career was marked not only by his commitment to his work but also by the relationships he built with colleagues, who admired his work ethic and sense of humor.
Growing up with 9 siblings, Alvah formed a deep connection with his hometown of Marlborough, where he spent his entire life. He was a well-respected member of several local organizations, including the Marlborough Fish & Game, Marlborough Eagle's, and the Marlborough Amvets, reflecting his active engagement in the community that he cherished.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Alvah served as a Medic during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Germany. His service exemplified his character, blending courage with compassion. Alvah was known for his great sense of humor, through which he relayed many stories, often humorous and funny, providing joy and laughter to those around him. He had a kind heart, always ready to help others in need.
Alvah loved entertaining family and friends, especially during the warm summer months. His backyard gatherings around the pool, where he delighted in hosting cookouts, were a testament to his love for family and joy in bringing people together. He had a special place in his heart for animals and opened his home to stray dogs in need of care.
Alvah's proudest accomplishments included the many hours spent caring for his family and managing the home he so lovingly maintained. He took great pleasure in tinkering in his tool shed and splitting wood for the fireplace, all while cherishing the moments spent surrounded by those he loved.
Alvah is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Janet F. (Coady) Chase; his daughter, Rita McWeeney and her husband Kenneth of Marlborough, MA; and grandchildren, Danielle Strate and her husband Colin of Michigan, and Nicole McWeeney and her husband Michael Kapisovsky of Waltham, MA. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Margot and Mason Strate, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his father, Harry Chase, and his mother, Doris (Smith) Chase.
Alvah Chase will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family and community. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
