Antonio (Tony) Fontes, 61, son, brother, husband, father, and avô passed away surrounded by his family after a brief illness. With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a cherished soul whose kindness knew no bounds.

He was a cherished husband of Luisa Fontes for nearly 40 years. He is survived by his mother Emilia C. He was predeceased by his father, João Fontes.

Tony was born in the Açores, Portugal and immigrated to the U.S. with his family at the age of 11 years. Thereafter, he began building a new life full of friendships, laughter, and love.

Tony, a beacon of selflessness and unwavering loyalty, has left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His infectious goofiness brought joy to countless lives, while his profound love for family, food, and crafting enduring memories defined his essence. His infectious smile enveloped with his notorious dimples, remains a staple image in our hearts as we celebrate his many accomplishments and memories.

Tony was always a light hearted, empathic and loyal person that always made light of every situation. Even during difficult times, his realistic outlook on life rings true that things “are what they are” and to move forward fearlessly and proudly, without hesitation. Not only was he proud of his culture, and traditions, he welcomed everyone into his life with open arms without judgment. His proudest stories shared include memories of his wife, whom he loved more than anything in the world, his children, and his grandchildren who he cherished beyond expectations.

Whether casting lines in the serene waters of Cape Cod or basking in the sun-kissed shores of Santa Maria Island, he found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Tony's ultimate joy was indulging in following sports, especially the Boston Celtics as a devoted fan.
