Cipriano “Soupy” S. Pinto, 70, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Marlborough Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a period of declining health.
Soupy was born in Misarela, Guarda, Portugal, on January 15, 1951, the only son of the late Diamantino and Maria (Sousa) Pinto. He moved to Hudson with his family in 1954, where he was raised and graduated from Hudson High School. Shortly after finishing high school, he enlisted in the United States National Guard, honorably serving his nation for 7 years and earning the rank of Sergeant. Soupy joined the Hudson Police Department in 1985 and spent the next two and a half decades protecting and serving his community. Among many other duties as a police officer, Soupy was a photo fingerprinting expert for the Hudson Police. He also served as a constable for the community.
Soupy was a proud police officer and was a longtime member of the International Union of Police Associations, Grand Lodge Fraternal Order of Police, National Police Association, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Hudson Eagles Aerie 643. Soupy also had many hobbies, such as fishing, hunting,collecting stamps, classic cars and firearms and treasure hunting at flea markets. Soupy was also a k9 lover, especially his two late Shepherds, "Dustin” and “Luger”. Although he did not have children of his own, he cherished spending time with his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Soupy is survived by 4 loving sisters, Maria Rio and her husband Alfred, Irene Teixeira, Alexandrina “Drina” Cardoso and Lucia Lampinen and her husband Jack. He also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews, Donna Rio DiBlasi, Lisa M. Teixeira, Cynthia P. Rio Bacon, Susan D. McLaughlin, Michael J. Teixeira, Laura L. Duplisea, Melissa S. DiFonzo, Debra A. Cardoso, Stephen S. Cardoso, Amy L. Lampinen and Kerrie A. Lampinen; many great-nieces and great-nephews and 1 great-great-nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4-7pm on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery for Committal Services and Military Honors.
