Clarice L. (Lisby) Garon

Clarice L. Garon (nee’ Lisby), 81, of Dover, NH and formerly of York, Maine, passed away July 22, 2019 after a battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

She was born in Los Angeles, CA April 15, 1938, the daughter of Roland Tant and Opal Vassar. After Opal married Ivan Lisby, Clarice took his last name (as she viewed him as her father).

She met William (Bill) Garon in Alexandria, VA and married him in October 1958. Bill was in the Air Force and she became a service wife, staying at home to raise their three children while he was stationed in Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines, then joining him in the Philippines and Turkey. Stateside assignments included Alaska, New Hampshire, Maine and Texas.

Upon her husband’s retirement from military service, the family settled in York Beach, ME. Clarice held several jobs in York, including working at The Country Store, The Harbor House and Ben Franklin’s. She soon found her life’s calling and worked as an Activities Director at several nursing homes in the Seacoast area including Webster’s at Rye.

Clarice is survived by three children, William T (Tim) and his wife, Julie of Upton, MA, Calice M. Legate of Galveston, Texas, and Patrick I. Garon and his wife Britton of York, ME; five grandchildren, Paige and Stephen Legate of Galveston, Texas; Declan, Noah and Quinn of York, ME and great grandchild, Kayleigh of Galveston, TX. She also leaves many brother and sister-in-laws, as well as several nieces and nephews.
