Clifford G. Matthews, of Bolton, Massachusetts, passed away on August 30, 2026, in Jefferson, Massachusetts. He was born on October 7, 1948, in Hudson, Massachusetts.
A lifelong resident of Bolton, Clifford lived a simple life centered on what mattered most to him: family first, work second, and recreation when he could. He was known for the steady way he moved through life and for the value he placed on time spent with those he loved. He especially enjoyed traveling with his family whenever possible, and his proudest accomplishment was the time he shared with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
For the majority of his career, Clifford worked as a Quality Control Supervisor for Lance Corporation in Hudson, Massachusetts. He was the first employee to celebrate 20 years with the company. After retiring from Lance Corporation, he continued working part time finishing antique furniture at Old Bay Antiques and Collectibles. He ran this business out of a garage that he built himself, which was attached to the home he built with the help of his family when he was just 23 years old. That work reflected a lasting interest in finishing antique furniture, a craft he clearly appreciated both in his professional life and as a personal interest.
Above all, Clifford will be remembered as a devoted family man. He leaves his beloved wife, Donna Matthews, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter Wendy Murphy and her husband, Rich, of Hudson, Massachusetts; his son Jason Matthews of Jefferson, Massachusetts; his sisters, Verna Steadmam and Faith Minnicuci ; his grandchildren, Dylan Matthews, Emma Murphy, and Nathan Murphy; and his great-granddaughter, Rayann Murphy. Each of them carries forward the memory of his love, his steady presence, and the family-centered life he cherished so deeply.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilder Matthews, his mother, Carolyn Matthews, and his brother Bobby
