In May 2025, a celebration was held where the Hudson Historical Society honored Esther with the Boston Post Cane Award, recognizing her as the oldest resident in town.
Esther enjoyed travelling and family time at Lake Winnipesaukee. She especially loved spending summer months on the Cape Cod Canal with her sons Warren and Donald, inviting many friends and family visitors for over 25 years.
Esther is survived by her two sons, Kenneth A. Folkes and his wife Joan of Meredith, NH, and Donald C. Folkes of Southborough, MA, as well as numerous loving grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren F.
