FRAMINGHAM: Frederick “Fred” R. Barker, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He is finally reunited with his beloved wife of 29 years, Jill M. (Langelier) Barker, who predeceased him in 2011.
Fred was born on April 16, 1942, in Houlton, ME, son of the late Everett and Mary (Page) Barker. He was raised in Houlton, ME. He graduated from Hodgdon High School in 1960. He moved to Milford, MA shortly after and eventually settled in Framingham MA. He worked in the maintenance building for many years with Cushing Hospital in Framingham and at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain for 20 years before retiring in 2012. He thoroughly enjoyed bowling, as well as card games and bingo with family and friends. He was also known as the “look-a-like” posing as Cliff from the sitcom “Cheers”.
He is survived by his stepdaughter Tammy Hernandez and her husband, Oscar Hernandez of Framingham as well as two other stepchildren and 8 grandchildren, siblings Clifford Barker and wife Janet, Peter Shaw and wife Darlene, Astrid Torjusrod and husband John. He is also survived by special nephew Michael Barker and wife Amy Joy, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street Hudson, MA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am in the funeral home following a procession at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.
