Gasper F. Rubino

Gasper F. Rubino, of Hudson MA, passed away on March 1st, 2024 at the age of 92. He was surrounded by his family.


Gaspar Francis (known as Frank) was born in the North End of Boston, MA to Angelo and Petrina Rubino and was the youngest of 5 children.


He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Harrington Rubino as well as his five children: Carolyn Morand her husband Garry of Leominster; Virginia Colaianni and her husband John of Hudson; William Rubino and his wife Valerie of Orlando FL; Nancy Lento and her husband David of Sterling; and Marianne Rubino and her husband Jesse Harvey of Hudson. Frank is also survived by his 4 granddaughters: Emily MacMunn, Allison Colaianni, Kelci Lento, and Maggie Tarquini; his 3 grandsons: Jack Colaianni, Derek Morand, and Dylan Rubino and 1 granddaughter, Megan Lento who predeceased him 


After graduating from Somerville High School in 1949, Frank joined the Navy at age 19 and served during the Korean War on the ship The Coral Sea. After the war, he lived in New York City where he studied electronics at the RCA Institute. He eventually moved back to Somerville where he met his future wife, Mary Harrington. They married in 1959 and eventually settled in Hudson MA where they raised their 5 children. 


Frank continued his education and graduated in 1967 from Northeastern University with a degree in electronics. After obtaining his degree, he became a teacher at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School in Upton MA, heading up the electronics department. While there, he pioneered the robotics program which is still in existence today. He touched the lives of countless students, many of whom went on to have successful careers in the high-tech industry. After retiring from teaching, Frank reintroduced himself to the game of golf where he spent many summers at the Berlin Country Club playing in the senior league.


People were drawn to Frank’s dry wit and sarcastic humor as well as his warm and caring heart. All who were lucky enough to have had him in their lives knew that he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He was an avid fan of all of Boston’s sports teams including the Red Sox, the Patriots, the Celtics, and the Bruins. He will be deeply missed by friends and family as well as all who knew him.


Relatives and friends are invited to visitation hours from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6th,2024 at the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Saint Michael's Church on 21 Manning Street Hudson at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 7th. Interment will follow at Saint Michael’s Cemetery in Hudson.
