Hannah Scott, born in November 1928, in North Harbor, Newfoundland, Canada, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warm spirit and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Hannah’s life was a tapestry woven with love and commitment. At the young age of 20, she took a bold step and immigrated to the United States, where she settled in Somerville, MA. Over the years, she made her home in Lexington, MA, for more than five decades before relocating to Hudson, MA in 2017.
Hannah exemplified hard work, resilience, and a deep love for her family. She spent decades as a waitress – first at Howard Johnson’s in Lexington, then at Dunkin’ Donuts in Bedford -- until retiring at 80. Known for her humor, warmth, and quick wit, she cherished family traditions and made her kitchen the heart of holiday gatherings. Fondly called “Nannie” she took pride in raising her children and nurturing 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her generous spirit extended to all she loved, including her cherished pets.
As a devotee of her faith, Hannah was actively engaged in her parish communities, starting at Saint Brigid Parish in Lexington and continuing at Saint Michael Parish in Hudson. Her commitment to her faith was mirrored in her genuine connections with those around her. She had a unique ability to brighten any room, and her laughter brought joy to both friends and family.
Hannah is survived by her children: Cathy of Hudson, Paul and his wife Robyn of Tyngsboro, Bill and his wife Dede of North Carolina, Gerry of Westford, and Judy of Hudson. Her legacy is further enriched by her sister, Margaret, and her brother, Vincent both of Newfoundland Canada, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will hold her memory close.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Scott, who left this world in 2018, and her cherished parents, John Michael and Victoria, along with her brothers, Sebastian and Michael.
Hannah’s spirit, fondly remembered for her giving nature, charm, and dignity, will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her story is one of resilience, love, and devotion, and as we gather to honor her life, we celebrate all that she embodied — a true matriarch whose love transcended generations.
