Ilda C. Andrade, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on January 3, 2026, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA. Born on January 13, 1958, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, Ilda carried her cultural roots with pride throughout her life. She cherished her upbringing in the Azores, attending local schools and reveling in the rich traditions that shaped her early years.
Ilda married Antonio C. Andrade, and together they immigrated to the United States, settling in Hudson, MA, where they enjoyed a loving marriage that spanned 48 years. During her time in Hudson, Ilda became an integral part of the community, demonstrating unwavering commitment to her family and her faith as a devoted member of Saint Michael Parish.
Ilda dedicated her career to serving as a custodian for the Hudson Public Schools, a role she took great pride in, enjoying the company of students and the vibrant school environment. After years of exemplary service, she retired in 2022, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication.
Family was at the heart of Ilda’s life. She was known for the special bond she shared with her grandchildren, as well as the joy she found in hosting Thanksgiving gatherings, where family would unite and celebrate together. Ilda’s deep love for her grandchildren—Tyler, Collin, Isabella, Aurelia, Everett, and Luna—was evident in everything she did, and they adored her in return.
Her personality shone brightly in all her interactions; she was unselfish and consistently placed the needs of others above her own. Ilda's Portuguese heritage was a large part of her identity, and she cherished dancing to traditional music and participating in community events. She often looked forward to trips back to Santa Maria, where she would reconnect with family and friends.
Ilda is survived by her loving husband, Antonio C. Andrade; her sons, Steven T. Andrade of Lancaster, MA, and Edward T. Andrade and wife Keri of Sterling, MA; and her grandchildren, Tyler, Collin, Isabella, Aurelia, Everett, and Luna. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings, Fatima Cabral and husband Alfredo, Lucia Tavares, Isabel Braga and husband Carlos, Elvira Sousa and husband Jose Antonio, Alda Braga and husband Edward, Arsenio Tavares and wife Olalia, Denis Tavares and wife Aragina, Rui Tavares, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Ilda was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio Tavares and Maria (Chaves) Tavares, and a brother, Jose Tavares.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, located at 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Cristian Burial will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Saint Michael Church on Manning Street in Hudson; (No services are being held at the funeral home so please arrive at the church by 9:50 AM to attend the mass at 10:00 AM). Procession to Saint Michael Cemetery, Cox Street, Hudson will follow for burial.
Ilda C. Andrade’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering strength that will continue to inspire her family and friends.
