James Thomas Fahey

December 2, 1963 — February 26, 2022

Berlin

James Thomas Fahey, 58, of Berlin, MA, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Marlborough Hospital, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years, Robin L. (Miller) Fahey, two sons, James Liam Fahey, and Benjamin Tyler Fahey; and a yellow lab, Aspen.

James was born in Reserve Mines, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, on December 2, 1963, one of 7 children of the late James and Emily (Tighe) Fahey. He was raised in Cape Breton, where he graduated from High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Saint Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. He subsequently matriculated to Cornell University, where he went on to earn his Master’s and PHD in polymer chemistry. James married the love of his life, Robin L. (Miller) Fahey in September of 1995, and they later settled in Mendon, MA, where they resided for 16 years before moving to Berlin, MA, where they have lived for the past 9 years. James held many important positions throughout his career, including President of Electronic Materials at Dupont in Marlborough, MA and later as President of HZO Company in Raleigh, NC, where he eventually retired.

James had a love for classic cars and music. He was an avid corvette enthusiast with a collection of vintage corvettes, which he cherished. He also loved to listen to the great classic rock bands, such as the Beatles, Elton John, and Elvis. He loved doing special projects in and around the house; he was a real handyman, never hiring anyone to do a job he could do himself. James’ greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family, especially raising his 2 sons, James Liam and Benjamin. James was a devoted father who always put his children first. He coached baseball, made Halloween costumes, and helped with homework; he never missed a birthday and always baked a homemade chocolate cake. James was a caring and generous person and spent his time helping others. James was an advocate for others fighting cancer, spending hours researching information to share with others fighting the battle.

In addition to his beloved wife, Robin, and his two sons, James Liam and Benjamin, James is survived by 6 siblings, Alphonse Fahey and his spouse, Wanda; Cathy Fahey and her spouse, Tim Hall; Emily Fahey and her spouse, Glenn Poirier; Michelle Morrison and her spouse, Mike; Charlie Fahey and his wife, Patricia; and Kevin Fahey and his wife, Tammy.  James also leaves behind his father and mother-in law, Peter and Grace Peterson; two brothers-in-law, Kevin Miller and his wife, Elizabeth; and Scott Peterson and his wife. Dawn; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Lukowski. James was the proud uncle to 17 nieces and nephews.
