Jamyll Abeku Payne, a cherished member of his loving family and community, passed away peacefully, at home, on September 15, 2025. Jamyll was born on March 17, 1973, in Boston, MA, and was raised and grew up in the Marlborough/Hudson area. He attended the Francis J. Kane Elementary School, JFK Middle School, and Assabet Valley Technical High School where he excelled at basketball and graduated in 1991. Jamyll furthered his education at Quinsigamond Community College and obtained his Barbering Certificate from Rob Roy Academy. He showcased his skills as a barber at the Main Event Barber Shop in Worcester, MA, before transitioning to a more personal approach by offering mobile hair-cutting services to his clients in their homes.
To his friends, Jamyll was affectionately known as a "gentle giant." His sensitive and goofy nature could light up any room. An infectious smile and a remarkable sense of humor made each gathering enjoyable, ensuring laughter and happy memories for all present. He was known for being loyal, outgoing, kind, and caring — characteristics that endeared him to many.
Jamyll was an extremely gifted artist with talents extended to drawing, particularly cartoons, comics and self-portraits, as well as writing, composing and performing rap music which he took great pride in. He was known for his stylish wardrobe, blending his fashion sense with the rich culture of his Barbados roots, where his father was born.
Jamyll deeply cherished his family, referring to them as his "Tribe", and looked forward to gatherings filled with love, cookouts, and joyful moments. He is survived by his son, Jaimyn Payne and his partner Nathalia; daughter, Josslyn Rego; son, Jarred Daby; sister, Alisa Surrette and her husband Matthew; and brother, Alvin Payne Jr. and his wife Tanya. He is also survived by nephews and nieces Brett and wife Carly, Brandon and fiancé Leigha, nephew Isaiah, great-nephews Jayden and Julian, great-niece Melody as well as many other relatives, and friends who will continue to honor his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Payne Sr., and his mother, Florence (Grasty) Payne.
A Visitation will be held on September 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, located at 50 Central St., Hudson, MA 01749.
Jamyll Abeku Payne will be remembered for his spirit, musical and artistic talents, and the profound love he held for his family and friends. His vibrant personality left an indelible mark on all who knew him ensuring his memory will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his life.
