Joanne M. Steere

Joanne M. Steere, 62, of Wrentham, passed away unexpectedly at Norwood Hospital, on Saturday, November 24, 2018, with her loving family by her side.

Joanne was born on July 1, 1956, one of seven children of the late John and Rita (Petersen) Steere. She spent much of her life in Wrentham where she forged lifelong relationships at the Wrentham Developmental Center. Joanne loved her time at the center, especially the annual Christmas parties and cookouts.

She also enjoyed getting dressed up and having her hair done; as well as swimming or spending time relaxing in her favorite chair while enjoying a good cup of coffee. She was a loving and caring person who faced adversity with grace and courage.

Joanne is survived by her three sisters, Jean M. McNary and her husband William of East Dennis, MA, Janice E. Steere of Hudson, MA and Joyce R. Carter and her husband Phil of Leominster, MA; two brothers, John P. Steere of Hudson, MA and Jeffrey P. Steere of Hudson, MA; her sister-in-law, Genevieve Steere of Lancaster, MA and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother James E. Steere and sister-in-law, Michele A.Steere .

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 2 pm until 4 pm; followed by a celebration of her life at 4 pm on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. Burial will be private.

The Steere family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the staff and care providers at the Wrentham Development Center for their loving and compassionate care for Joanne throughout her life.
