John E. Barry, of Bridgewater, passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on April 22, 1952, in Somerville, Massachusetts, John lived a life centered on family, hard work, and the simple joys that brought people together.
He graduated from St. Clemens in Somerville, MA, and went on to attend Salem St University, where he earned an Associates Degree. He later worked as a taxi driver and dispatcher in the City of Boston, a role that reflected his steady nature and willingness to serve others. John also served in the Army during Vietnam, a chapter of his life marked by duty and commitment.
For more than 20 years, John lived in the Hudson and Marlborough area before moving to Bridgewater. He was an avid New England sports fan, and there was always a Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, or Patriots game on the television. Those who knew him will remember that familiar presence, the comfort of game day, and the enthusiasm he brought to cheering on his teams.
Above all else, John was a loving father and grandfather. His proudest accomplishment was being a father to his two wonderful daughters and a grandfather to his two amazing grandchildren. That devotion to family stood at the heart of his life and will remain a lasting part of his memory.
He is survived by his daughters, Danielle Barry and Erin Barry; his grandchildren, Benny and Henry Barry; Irene Barry, the loving mother of his children; his sisters Ellen Barry, Ann Barry, and Jane Barry; and his brothers Marty Barry, Joseph Barry, Rob Barry, Paul Barry, and David Barry. He also leaves behind many loved ones who will continue to carry his memory forward with affection and gratitude.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Barry; his mother, Margaret A. (Hurley) Barry; and his sister, Mary Barry. Their memories remained part of the story of his life, and he now rests in their company.
