In his younger years John played baseball. Being lefthanded he was often called “lefty Gomez”. In high school, he was on the basketball team and was awarded the Unsung Hero Award.
Friends affectionately called him “Benny”.
He was also on a pool league in Maynard for a few years.
After school John worked at a local car dealership and did all the car detailing. He also worked for a few landscaping companies until he got involved in the tree removal business working for a couple of local tree companies.
When he moved to Cotuit, he continued in the tree business working for a company before starting his own business.

John liked collecting baseball cards and sneakers (too many pairs to count). John’s newest passion was his Harley Davidson Bike.
Besides the love of Spanish food, he loved eating a good cherry pie.
John was proud of his Puerto Rican heritage including music and food. Just before covid he
took his family to Puerto Rico for a vacation where they enjoyed the culture even more.
Nevaeh and Deven will miss their fathers love, silliness, fishing, eating ice cream out of the container, rides on his motorcycle and many other special moments together that they will cherish and remember forever. Nevaeh and Deven were the light in his eyes, the beat of his heart until his last breath. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
