Jose F. Figueiredo passed peacefully at his residence on Saturday, October 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 20, 1942, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Born and raised in Santa Maria, Jose carried his Portuguese heritage with great pride. In 1968, he immigrated to the United States and made his home in Hudson, Massachusetts. He always looked forward to returning to Santa Maria during the summer to visit family and friends, maintaining a deep and lasting connection to the island where his life began.
Jose worked for many years as a concrete finisher and was a dedicated employee of S&F Concrete in Hudson. He was known as a man devoted to his family, his community, and his faith. Caring toward others and deeply loyal, he lived with quiet strength and commitment. As a husband, father, and grandfather, his family was truly his passion in life and remained his proudest accomplishment.
Outside of work, Jose found joy in many simple and meaningful pursuits. He was an avid Benfica soccer fan and loved spending time outdoors, especially caring for his lawn and tending his garden. He especially enjoyed attending all of his grandsons' sporting events, no matter where it took him. He also enjoyed making his wine each season and sharing it with family and friends, a tradition that brought people together and reflected his generous spirit. Jose and his brother Antonio founded the Banda Recreativa de Clube Português de Hudson, and he treasured the camaraderie and friendships formed with fellow band members, as well as the many people they entertained over the years. Also served as an officer of the Hudson Portuguese Club, along with the Amigos de Santo Espírito and the Benfiquistas of Hudson.
Jose is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Figueiredo, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his son, John Figueiredo and his wife Virginia of Hudson, MA; his grandsons, Ryan Figueiredo and Jake Figueiredo; his sisters, Isaura Santos of Hudson, MA, Ines Bairos and her husband David of Hudson, MA, and Isabel Melo and her husband Humberto of Hudson, MA; and his brother Antonio Figueiredo and his wife Beatriz of Hudson, MA. Jose also leaves his many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be remembered with love for his steady presence, his devotion to those closest to him, and the warmth he brought to family gatherings and friendships alike.
He was predeceased by his father, Antonio Figueiredo, his mother, Maria (Frias) Figueiredo and sister Maria Lopes, and brother-in-laws Manuel Santos and Jose Lopes.
