Joseph D. Fontes, 60 of Hudson MA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 25th. Joe was born in Santa Maria Azores and raised in Hudson MA, son of the late Antonio and Maria Fontes. He was self-employed for many years and enjoyed his line of work in concrete services. He devoted much of his time in local community efforts to multiple social programs.
His true passion was his family. He is survived by his daughter, Alexis Fontes and her brother Tyler Monteiro; his 3 sisters and 1 brother Laura Monteiro and her husband Tony Monteiro, Celeste Fontes, Daniel Fontes with his partner Cheryl Holden and Natalie Fontes and her late husband Jonathan McKinlay. He was predeceased by his brother Victor Fontes. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends near and far whom he adored. His circle was so large that it is impossible to state.
Joseph lived a short but fruitful life full of laughter and excitement shared by many. He was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle and friend. Before his late mother’s passing, in Joe’s good-natured way, he enjoyed teasing her greatly which kept her young. His heart was always full for those who knew him with an eagerness to help anyone out. One could find him working on any project, there was never one too big or too small. He was quite the handyman. He was reliable and lightened up any situation with his humor. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and found solace in nature ”chasing waterfalls”. He loved traveling on his cherished motorcycle with friends and exploring new adventures. Whatever he did and wherever he was it would be accompanied by one-liners and hysterically funny adventure stories. Family and friends are deeply saddened by his loss and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves a legacy of compassion, faithfulness, with many memories for all to cherish and remember. His loyalty was unmatched.
Please join the family to celebrate the life of Joseph on May 18th from 12:00 - 4:00 at the Hudson Elks Pavilion, 91 Park St. Committal services will be held privately.
In lieu of donations, flowers or cards, the family wishes for you to please find a friend or family member and spend that money on lobster rolls or a buffet; take a bike or a car ride thinking of Joe and your cherished memories together. “It’s a beautiful thing”. You are loved.
