Joseph David Freitas

Joseph David Freitas, fondly known as “Bubba” passed away suddenly on December 16th. Bubba was raised in Marlborough but calls Sturbridge home. Joseph was predeceased by his loving Mother, Florence Freitas, and is survived by his three beautiful daughters, Alexis, Brooke, and Caitlyn. He was the youngest of 6, and leaves brothers John of Burlington, VT, Richard and Patricia Freitas of Northborough, Michael & Linda Freitas of Westborough as well as two sisters, Mary and Joseph Duggan of Acton, and Terry and Dave Walsh of Hopkinton. He also leaves his loving girlfriend and partner, Jennifer Grybowski and her daughter Grace Grybowski. He was the best and most generous Uncle to Jason Freitas, Ricky Freitas, Matthew Duggan, Brittany Freitas, Chandler Freitas Bird, Michael Duggan, Luke Freitas, Julia Pitino, and Sean Duggan.

Bubba was one of a kind and was widely known for his quick wit, generosity, kindness, friendliness, and love of sport. He played and coached basketball, and while he supported all of the local teams, his favorite was the Boston Celtics. But the thing that made him the proudest was being a father. He doted on his three daughters, embarrassed them on occasion, but loved them to no end. While he was the youngest of the family, he ruled the weekly gatherings and daily text with his unending humor. As a friend, he was second to none.

Bubba graduated from Bentley College, was a CPA, and most recently was an Executive at American Family Insurance.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20th, 2025 from 2:00 P.M - 5:00 P.M. at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St, Hudson, MA. 

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in honor of Joe on Sunday December 21st, from 2 P.M - 5 P.M. at The Courtyard by Marriott located at 75 Felton St, Marlborough, MA. 

This world was a better place because of Joseph “Bubba” Freitas and he will be sorely missed.
