Karl P. Hanson

May 13, 1963 — June 14, 2025

Hudson, MA

Karl Peter Hanson, a devoted partner, father, brother, friend, and beloved “Papa,” passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at the age of 62.

Born and raised in Medford, MA, Karl graduated from high school and went on to pursue his lifelong trade as a plumber. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish K&K Plumbing and later Sully’s Plumbing and Heating, in Chelmsford and Hudson, MA. With dedication and perseverance, Karl earned the esteemed title of Master Plumber, an accomplishment he carried with immense pride. He approached his work with integrity and care, treating clients as friends and friends as family. He was always ready with a warm smile, a funny dad joke, or to share a cup of coffee after a job well done.

Karl believed deeply in lifting others up. He mentored apprentices over the years and offered support to those needing a fresh start or a helping hand. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on countless lives.

A proud Freemason for more than 35 years, Karl served as Master of William Sewell Gardner Kilwinning Lodge and led through the transition when it merged with Pentucket Lodge in 2022. His Masonic brothers held a special place in his heart, and he embodied the values of brotherhood and service every day.

Karl had a deep love for music. Though most often heard singing in his car, he took voice lessons and would prepare special songs to share with his love Karen on meaningful occasions. Over time, he gained the courage to sing in public, including at a recital and church, where he would often lean over and whisper how much he loved a particular song.

In recent years, Karl developed a passion for travel. Whether exploring the streets of Italy, the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska, or the beaches of Hawaii, he embraced each journey with curiosity and enthusiasm. He cherished relaxing cruises, weekend getaways to cozy bed & breakfasts and found joy in discovering new cultures, histories, and cuisines.

Karl was the kind of man who made everyone feel at ease. With a heartfelt conversation or a warm hug, he made lasting connections wherever he went and was a true gentleman. His warmth, humor, and compassion will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.

Karl is survived by his loving life partner, Karen Crane; his son, Kenneth Hanson; daughter, Katelyn Mackey (Tim); stepdaughter, Jeannette Rocker (John); stepsons, Camren and Hunter O'Connor, and Liam Clohecy; grandchildren Hailey and Austin Rocker, and Michael and Cara Mackey. He is also survived by his brothers Stephen Hanson (Lucy), Mark Hanson (Brenda), and David Hanson (Cara), along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Lillian Hanson.
