Lori S. Lape

December 19, 1961 — April 23, 2026

Westborough

Lori S. Lape, 64, passed away on April 23, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was fortunate to spend her final days at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

She was born December 19, 1961, in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Marvin and Janice (Ellman) Bornstein. A former resident of Kennebunk, Maine, for over 25 years, Lori had recently moved to Westborough, Massachusetts, to be closer to her grandchildren, and had immediately found community and friendship in her new town. She was graduate of the Sharon High School Class of 1980 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Rhode Island. Lori thrived in her role as Vice President of Northern Benefits Insurance. Lori’s thoughtfulness, care, and attention to detail turned many of her clients into friends. She never hesitated to help navigate the hurdles of insurance and was quick to lend a hand to anyone - client, family, friend, or acquaintance. Her academic and professional achievements demonstrated her intelligence and commitment to her craft, qualities that earned her great respect in her career and beyond.

Lori had a huge heart and a fantastic personality. She delighted in the simple joys of life—her fondness for donuts and chocolates, her love of 1980s music, and her deep year-round passion for the Grinch. She was a master puzzle builder, a devoted reader, and an amazing concert buddy. She especially delighted in surprising those she loved with thoughtful gifts, never needing a special occasion to remind others that she was thinking of them. She was fiercely protective of those she loved; anyone was lucky to call her a friend. Lori was an avid traveler, exploring diverse cultures across the globe, including Spain, Mexico, China, Vietnam, Japan, and Korea. Above all, Lori’s heart belonged to her family. She was a loving wife, a great mom, and the world’s best “Gurgur” (her grandchildren’s special name for her).

Lori is survived by her devoted husband, Chip Lape; her son Joshua Lape and his fiancée, Eungi; her daughter Zoie Lawton and her husband, Giles; and her two adored grandchildren, Archer and Dakota Lawton. Their lives are forever enriched by her presence, guidance, and love.
