Hudson, MA

Lucia C. Silva, of Hudson, Massachusetts, passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born on October 30, 1945, in Sao Miguel, Portugal, and will be remembered as a loving, patient, fun, hardworking and strong-willed woman whose greatest joy was caring for her family and our dog Tipsy who she adored and spoiled.

Throughout her working life, Lucia dedicated herself with steady commitment and care. She worked at Hudson Lock, Arrow Automotive, New England Tape, and Digital Equipment Corporation before moving to Marlborough Hospital, where she spent many years in the Housekeeping Department. She stayed there until her retirement. In every role, she brought loyalty, determination, and a spirit that made her a pleasure to know leaving a lasting impression.

Lucia appreciated learning new things through her life and embraced new technology as it emerged. She especially loved her iPhone, taking delight in making new friends and reconnecting with old ones on Facebook. She loved playing online games and trying new recipes on Pinterest. She was also known for the warmth she expressed in her home and kitchen. She loved to bake with her daughter every Saturday for family and friends, not only during the holidays but all year long, sharing her care and generosity in ways both simple and lasting.

Those who knew Lucia will remember a woman who was loving and devoted to her family, very strong willed, loyal and always there for her friends and family no matter what, and always fun to be in her company. Caring for her family was her passion, and that devotion shaped the life she lived and the memories she leaves behind.

Lucia is survived by her beloved husband, Mariano Silva, her husband of 57 years; her daughter, Nelia Zompetti; and her grandson, Christian Zompetti of Hudson, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her sisters, Laura Martin of Brazil, and Sandra Dias and her husband Manuel of West Boylston, Massachusetts. She also leaves her in-laws in Portugal, Fernando Silva, Helena Silva, Noemia Pereira, Maria José Botelho, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory.

She was predeceased by her mother, Constantina (Cabral) Barrigas, her father Bernardino Barrigas and by her brother, Bernardino Barrigas Jr.

Lucia’s life was marked by devotion, resilience, kindness, and love. She gave deeply to those around her, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
