Madelyn A. Souza

Madelyn A. Souza, 79, of Hudson, MA, passed away comfortably at UMass Memorial in Worcester, MA, on Sunday, June 20, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Madelyn was the daughter of the late Manuel and Ann (DiEorio) Souza of Hudson, MA. She was educated in the Hudson school system, having graduated from Hudson High School class of 1963. She went on to Mount Saint Mary College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Madelyn furthered her studies at Assumption College, where she earned her Master’s Degree.

Upon graduating, she became a beloved teacher in the Hudson School System. She taught at JFK Middle School, Farley Elementary School, Mulready School, and served as a Principal at Hubert Kindergarten. She helped to shape so many young lives in her 30 year tenure. Madelyn was an avid bridge player, loved reading, and most of all, she loved playing board games with her family – especially Scattergories and Trivial Pursuit. More times than not, she was the winner. She had very fond memories of her monthly luncheons with her fellow teachers.

Madelyn is survived by her first cousins Kevin Ferruccio and Mary Lou McNiff and her husband Robert; her second cousins Kristy Ramelli and her husband Lavell, Katey McTaggart and her wife Amanda, Mikala Geurtsen and her husband Geoffrey, Allison Valukis and her husband Kristopher, Mark Ferruccio and his partner Lindsey, John Ferruccio, Daniel Anderson and his wife Samantha, and Dylan Anderson; as well as many third cousins, and many, many friends. She is also survived by John Anderson, husband of her late first cousin Nikki Anderson.

Madelyn’s family would like to give special recognition to Madelyn’s good friend, Donna Anderson, who unselfishly took care of whatever Madelyn needed!

Calling Hours for Madelyn will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 10am-11am, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following Calling Hours on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:30am, at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning Street, Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson, MA, for Committal Services.
