Obituary

Her home was a gathering place, especially during holidays and special occasions, where her exceptional cooking brought everyone together in celebration and warmth.

With deep respect and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Maria M. Figueiredo on July 21, 2026, in Hudson, Massachusetts. Born on October 12, 1948, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, Maria’s life was marked by profound devotion to her family, steadfast work ethic, and a generous spirit that touched the hearts of many.

Maria’s journey took her from the beautiful shores of Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal to Cambridge, Ontario, in 1965. It was there that she reunited with her beloved Antonio Figueiredo, with whom she shared a remarkable partnership. After their marriage in 1971, the couple made their home in Hudson, Massachusetts, where they built a life filled with love, family, and community.

A dedicated and loyal worker, Maria served as a machine operator for New England Tape from 1972 until her retirement in 2016. Her colleagues and friends knew her as an unwaveringly hard worker, someone whose integrity and diligence provided a shining example to all. Yet, more than any professional accomplishment, it was Maria’s commitment to her family that shaped her legacy.

Maria’s family was her passion and pride. She lovingly raised her children and later, delighted in caring for her grandchildren. Her home was a gathering place, especially during holidays and special occasions, where her exceptional cooking brought everyone together in celebration and warmth. Her greatest sense of accomplishment came from nurturing and supporting her loved ones, a legacy cherished by all who knew her.

Described by those closest to her as caring, always willing to help others in need, and exceptionally generous, Maria’s presence brought comfort and strength.

Described by those closest to her as caring, always willing to help others in need, and exceptionally generous, Maria’s presence brought comfort and strength. She maintained enduring ties with family in Cambridge, Ontario, looking forward each year to reuniting with them and renewing the bonds so dear to her heart.

Maria’s memory will be treasured by her devoted husband, Antonio Figueiredo; her sons, Kevin Figueiredo, Sr. and his partner Tatum Ferrara of Hudson, and John Figueiredo and his wife Yvania of Hudson; and her beloved grandchildren, Ruben Figueiredo, Kevin Figueiredo, Jr., and Brandon Figueiredo. She is also survived by her siblings, Rosa Moreira, Jose Moreira and his wife Celeste, John Moreira and his wife Alice, and Manuel Moreira and his wife Aldina, all from Cambridge, Ontario, and her sister-in-law, Maria Moreira. The family acknowledges with love the presence of many other relatives and friends who formed part of Maria’s rich and blessed life.

She was predeceased by her brother, Antonio Moreira, whose memory remained close to her heart.

Visitation will be held on July 28, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA.
