Maria Teresa (Correia) Mauricio, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Hudson, MA on Wednesday 6th May 2026, surrounded in love by her husband, daughters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Teresa is survived by her devoted husband José Mauricio, with whom in union she shared sixty-one years of a truly special partnership.
Teresa was born on September 3rd, 1939 in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal. Teresa and José were married in 1964 at the São Brás village church, where they began building their life together. In 1972, they moved with their four young children from the Azores to Hudson, MA, bringing with them a strong sense of family and tradition.
Teresa was a caring and attentive mother and wife, and with José, was always there to support, comfort and provide for their children. She leaves her four children, Luisa Meeks, Joseph Mauricio, Maria Cole, Teresa Vickery, and their spouses. Teresa was blessed with eight grandchildren, Joshua and Alaina Meeks, Caitlyn, Mason and Lauren Cole, Allison, Jillian and Ian Vickery, and her great-grandchild Phoebe, all of whom imbued her with boundless happiness and pride.
Teresa was one of seven siblings and is survived by her sisters Luisa Braga of Hudson, MA and Francelina Medeiros of São Miguel, Azores, sisters-in-law Maria de Rosario Sousa and Lisette Correia both of Hudson, MA. She is predeceased by her parents Arsenio and Ermelinda (de Melo) Correia and four siblings Maria Lurdes Martins, and Violante Silva of Lisbon, Guilhermina Ponte and José Correia of Hudson.
Family and faith was the foundation of her life, and she held an enduring commitment to the beauty of the Rosary. Teresa cherished time spent with family and friends at impromptu family get-togethers and socializing at the Hudson Portuguese Club to celebrate the Festas of the Holy Ghost. She treasured days when her nieces and nephews would visit with her and José, bringing laughter and companionship.
Teresa loved meaningful traditions. Everyone enjoyed the fresh warm malasadas she would make at family gatherings, the delicious Easter massa that Teresa would share with so many, and Christmas cookies she baked with her grandchildren. All those she touched were indelibly marked by her genuine tenderness.
