Maria M. Puim, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home on August 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 29, 1940, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, Maria immigrated to Hudson in 1960, where she embraced her new life with warmth and enthusiasm.
Maria enjoyed a fulfilling career, most of which, she spent at Digital Corporation, dedicating many years of her life to the role before ultimately retiring in 2002 to take care of her grandchildren. Her kind and loving spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Maria’s unique giving nature was not only a cherished part of her identity but also a way of life that she embraced wholeheartedly. Sunday dinners that Maria prepared always gave the family a time to gather and share stories. Known as "The Rock of the Family," she provided unwavering guidance and support to her loved ones throughout her life.
Maria was immensely proud of her Portuguese roots and her faith in the Catholic Church, both of which, to her, were an important aspect of her identity. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, and baking—activities through which she expressed her love. In her quieter moments, you could find her relaxing outside in the shade of a tree, lounging on her patio, or enjoying an episode of a soap opera.
She leaves behind a devoted family that includes her son Michael Puim and his wife Mandy of Florida, her daughter Lisa Puim and her wife Charissa Pawlowski of Barre, MA, and her daughter Anna Baker and her husband Peter of Hudson, MA. Maria also cherished her role as a grandmother to Michael Anthony Puim and his wife Briana of Pawtucket, RI, Michelle Parsons and her husband Richard of Georgia, Tania O'Dell and her husband Jeremy of Florida, as well as her grandsons Nathaniel and Matthew Baker of Hudson, MA. and granddaughter Kaitlyn Puim of Florida. Her legacy extends to her great-grandchildren Charlotte Puim, Tommy Puim, Richie Parsons, Liam Parsons, Gracie Parsons, Anthony Parsons, Graham O'Dell, Mack O'Dell, and Reese O'Dell.
Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband Antonio M. Puim, with whom she shared 58 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2020. She was also preceded in death by her father Antonio Moreira, her mother Maria (Melo) Moreira, and her brother Jose Moreira.
A visitation in honor of Maria will take place on Friday, August 29th 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, located at 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass celebrating her life will be held the following day, August 30th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Saint Michael Church, 23 Manning Street, Hudson, MA. Following the Mass, a graveside service will be held at Saint Michael Cemetery.
Maria’s kind soul and generous heart will be remembered fondly by all. Her nurturing presence, affectionate spirit, and deep commitment to her family will be missed profoundly, but her legacy of love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
