Marie Loretta Cervone, 95, of Hudson, MA, widow of Peter Michael Cervone, passed away on February 22, 2026. Beloved mother of Rose Marie Cervone of Burlington, MA and Laura Cervone McDowell (Matthew S. McDowell) of Hudson, MA and much loved grandmother to Luciana Marie Fionda, Sarah Elizabeth McDowell, and Alexandra Marie McDowell. Marie was the sister to Joseph DiPaola (deceased) and Frank DiPaola.

Marie was born on September 24,1930 to parents Sara and Jerome DiPaola in Buffalo, NY and graduated from Buffalo State Teacher’s College (SUNY) in 1952 with a degree in Elementary Education. She went on to teach first grade for several years in Buffalo, NY and fell in love with her Uncle’s WWII Army buddy when he came to visit his friend in Buffalo. Marie and Peter were married in 1957 and were together 58 years before his passing in 2015, also at age 95. After marriage, Marie and Peter moved to the New York City area where she taught elementary school before having children. After moving to Andover, MA in 1970, Marie raised her daughters and also volunteered in the community. She taught second grade religious education classes in Andover for over a decade and also volunteered at the elementary school library. Once the girls were older, she worked part-time for the IRS in Andover. Later in life she lovingly cared for each of her infant grandchildren a few days a week, a gift which the entire family will always cherish.

For the past four years, Marie was a much loved resident at the Artisan Assisted Living Facility in Hudson, MA. She stayed involved, enjoying daily exercise classes, arts and crafts activities, movie nights, and bingo with her dear friends.

Visiting  hours will be held at Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St. Hudson, MA on Saturday, February 28th from 5-6:30 pm followed by a Celebration of life service from 6:30-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Greater Food Bank of Boston.
