Mark R. Shaye

Mark R. Shaye,  58, of Bolton, MA, passed away at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on September 14, 2023, after a long, courageous battle against leukemia. He leaves his wife of 28 years, Susan (Anderson) Shaye of Bolton, MA.

Mark was born in Manchester, CT, the son of Norman and Madeline (Keil) Shaye. Among other personal and professional accomplishments, Mark earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from UMass Amherst, and later went on to earn his Master of Science Degree in Engineering Management from Northeastern University. He proudly worked as the Vice President of Engineering at Ken’s Foods.

Besides his wife, Susan, Mark leaves his daughter, Kyla Shaye of Somerville, MA; his brother David Shaye and his wife Rachel of Houston, TX; his sister Laura (Shaye) Giannone and her husband Steve of Naperville, IL; his nephews Jacob, Caleb, and Matt; and his nieces Allie and Caroline.

Mark had many hobbies and interests throughout his life. He was an avid reader and History junkie, harboring an exceptional fondness and appreciation for Winston Churchill for his impact on WWII, and subsequently, the world entire. He loved the outdoors and playing golf, enjoyed watching the Patriots, Red Sox, and Mets games, and was a supporter of Tom Brady in particular. He loved to cook, and went on annual camping and hiking trips at National Parks, spanning 35 years, with his UMass college buddies.

Mark was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother. He was outgoing, caring, and had a great sense of humor. He also had a special love for his dog, Lola. He will be missed greatly by all.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 1pm-2pm at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA, with a Celebration of Mark’s Life to begin at 2pm.
