Mary Ann (Fillmore) Courtemanche, 92, of Uxbridge, MA, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late Donald M. Courtemanche.
Mary Ann was born on June 25, 1931, in Hudson, MA, to her late parents Millard and Gladys (Gerry) Fillmore. Born and raised in Hudson, MA, along with her two brothers Gerry and Ralph Fillmore who both predeceased her, Mary Ann graduated from Hudson High School with the Class of 1947, where she also enjoyed her time as a drum majorette in the High School Band. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Romance Languages from Tufts University in 1951, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. From 1962-2002, Mary Ann was a resident of Sudbury, MA, and later settled in Uxbridge, MA for retirement where she was a resident from 2002 until shortly before her passing.
Mary Ann is survived by her son David Courtemanche and his wife Darlene of Wilmington NC; her daughter Donna McGrath and her husband Scott of Northbridge, MA; her grandchildren Cassie McGrath and her husband Tom Satriale of Shirley, MA, Shauna Courtemanche and her partner Connor Liberati of Wilmington NC, Logan McGrath and his partner Isabelle Todd of Northbridge, MA, and Brandie Courtemanche and her partner Mark Miller of Wilmington NC; her great-grandchild Atlas Satriale of Shirley, MA; her sister-in-law and lifelong friend Barbara Courtemanche ; as well many nieces and nephews .
When she was working, Mary Ann worked as a bank clerk for The Framingham Trust Company, and later as an Administrator in the Sudbury Board of Health Department until her retirement in 2003.
Mary Ann was a long time member of the Sudbury United Methodist Church as well as a volunteer at the Sunny Hill Preschool at the church. She truly loved the Sudbury community, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years and volunteered at Sudbury Town Meetings as well. After retirement Mary Ann also was a member of the Board of Trustees at Juniper Hill Condos in Uxbridge.
In her free time outside of her volunteering ventures, Mary Ann loved caring for her late husband Donald, their loving family, and their home. She was an avid reader and also had a particular fondness for the Hallmark Channel, and true crime television shows.
The family would like to thank New Horizons Memory Care in Marlborough for taking such good care of Mary Ann for the last 9 months of her life.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00am, at Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson, MA, under the direction of Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
