Michael Stephen Skoog
October 20, 1961 – March 26, 2024
Michael Stephen Skoog, Sr., 62, of Hudson, MA, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 after a brave battle against brain cancer. He is survived by his deeply loving wife of 35 years, Isabel M. (Ferreira) Skoog.
Michael was born in Des Moines, Iowa, son of the late Richard and Gloria (Kindwall) Skoog. He was raised in Mount Prospect, Illinois, where he attended local schools and was a 1979 graduate of Prospect High School. During this time, he was a member of the football and track teams and, following high school, he continued his education and athletic endeavors at Eastern Illinois University and the University of Arkansas.
As a resident of Hudson, MA since 1997, he served as the President of the Hudson Pop Warner Football program and also cherished his time coaching and mentoring the youth of the Hudson community. In his life, Michael worked a number of jobs that he was very passionate about, most recently employed as a Senior Field Representative for the Salvation Army for the last twelve years.
Besides his wife Isabel, Michael leaves his four sons, David Skoog of Florida; Michael Skoog Jr. and his wife Heather of E. Providence, RI; Andrew Skoog and his wife Maria of Hudson, MA; Jeffrey Skoog of Hudson, MA; and his daughter, Jessica Sousa and her husband Henry of E. Providence, RI. Michael is also survived by his brother Matthew Skoog and his wife Jennifer of Illinois; his two sisters, Sharon Skoog-Lichtenwalter and her husband Kirk of Illinois; and Linda Woehrl of Illinois. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews–Kyle, Kayla, April, Katie, Emily, and Jack–and many other beloved relatives and friends.
Michael adored football throughout his life, both during his playing days and later as an avid Patriots fan. Road trips were always special; he was always excited to explore over a short weekend, day trip, or travel to many destinations throughout the United States. He was always happy to host family and friends for a backyard barbeque playing music, sharing home brewed beer, and making everyone laugh. Whether at home or on the golf links, he could always be counted on to tell a great story. Most of all, he loved his family deeply and leaves behind many memories that they will cherish forever. He will be greatly missed but truly never forgotten.
