Nancy Jean Girard peacefully passed on from her home on August 11, 2020, one day after the 35th anniversary of her wedding to Dr. Michael Girard, who was by her side. Their daughter Laura was holding her hand. Nancy leaves behind many loyal friends and family members, including her brother Richard Kerdok, four nieces, a nephew, and a grand-nephew.
Nancy was born in Hudson, Massachusetts to the late Josephine and Anthony Kerdok, their fourth child and only daughter. She graduated from Hudson Catholic High School, and attended Emmanuel College in Boston as an art history major. Although she eventually returned to Hudson to live with her family, Nancy traveled the world, caused some trouble, and made friends wherever she went. She always had the best stories.
She was a devoted wife, an adoring mother, and a champion of the arts, her community, and anyone who needed a little extra love. She made the people around her feel supported and nurtured, and she picked up many adopted “kids” along the way. For the last 33 years, she built and ran Hudson Family Chiropractic alongside her husband Michael, where she will be fondly remembered for her enthusiasm and generosity. She was a constant learner and talented artist with an incredible green thumb. She threw the best parties and she baked the best cakes. Her hugs came quickly and often, and she never forgot a birthday.
There will be no calling hours or immediate services. A memorial celebration will be held at a later, safer date. At Nancy’s request, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Ball State University, Department of Theatre and Dance, Arts and Communications Building (AC) 306, Muncie, IN 47306.
