Nicholas Charles King, known lovingly as Nick, passed away unexpectedly on October 27th at the age of 28. Born on May 4th, 1997, Nick grew up in Bolton, Massachusetts, where he was known for his authenticity, sarcastic humor, and unwavering care for the people closest to him.
Nick was a person who approached every role in his life with a rare combination of care and intention. Though a deeply private person, those lucky enough to know him well understood the depth of his heart and the thoughtfulness that guided everything he did. He believed in treating people with respect and showing up with sincerity in all he did.
Nick managed a Planet Fitness in Worcester, where his steady presence and genuine kindness made him respected by both his coworkers and gym members alike. He found purpose in helping others meet their goals and had a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Nick cared deeply about the people around him and brought humor, warmth, and sincerity to everything he did. Whether sharing a dry, sarcastic comment at the front desk or offering encouragement to someone just starting out, he made people feel comfortable, seen, and supported.
Outside of work, Nick loved spending time with the people he cared about most—his family, his partner, and his close friends. He cherished summers on Cape Cod visiting his Nana and Papa, where he could relax, laugh, and feel at ease among family. Nick enjoyed simple pleasures: having a drink, reading, listening to music, or playing pool and chess. At home, he found comfort in the quiet company of his beloved cat, Oliver, who was always by his side. He loved the lively, chaotic afternoons spent with his mother and siblings, full of laughter, noise, and love. The holidays were especially meaningful to Nick—he looked forward to celebrating with his family, including his Auntie and cousin Brooke. He also enjoyed vacations and cruises with his partner, Jenny, where they could unwind, explore, and simply enjoy being together.
Nick is survived by his mother, Monique King, and his siblings, Hannah, Madeline, and Aaron. He was predeceased by his father, Mark S. King, whose memory remained an important part of Nick’s life. He is also survived by his grandparents, Charles and Pearl Prevoir. His family adored him and will forever carry his love, humor, and strength in their hearts. He shared his life with his partner, Jennifer Woodsum, whose love and companionship meant the world to him. His family will remember him as steady, loyal, and quietly compassionate—the kind of person whose presence spoke louder than words.
A private service will be held on Saturday, November 8, to honor Nick’s life and memory. The family will host a celebration of life in May, around his birthday, as they come together to remember Nick and the joy he shared with them. Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home is honored to be assisting Nick’s family with arrangements.
Those wishing to remember him are encouraged to take time to lift someone else up, share a good meal with family, or cry at a Disney movie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick’s memory to the Sterling Animal Shelter.
