Hudson, MA

Pauline M. (Keough) Leveille, born on January 23, 1935, in New Mills, New Brunswick, Canada, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her residence. Pauline was a remarkable woman whose life was characterized by devotion, generosity, and a strong sense of community.

For over 40 years, Pauline and her husband of 53 years, Richard E. Leveille, operated Shore Garden Cottages in Eastham on Cape Cod, a venture that not only showcased their entrepreneurial spirit but also their deep connection to the region they cherished. Their dedication to the business mirrored Pauline's commitment to her family, and her unwavering loyalty to friends painted a vibrant picture of a life well-lived.

A proud and devoted Catholic, Pauline was an active member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson, MA. She was also a member of the Saint Michael Catholic Daughters and the Hudson Garden Club, reflecting her commitment to fostering community ties and understanding the importance of faith in everyday life. Pauline was known to eagerly anticipate the summer get-togethers with her Canadian relatives, a time she cherished deeply, and she often delighted in visiting the Vintage Cafe in Hudson with friends after Sunday Mass, creating lasting memories in the process.

Pauline’s education began in the local schools of her hometown in New Mills. Throughout her life, she developed hobbies that were a testament to her nurturing nature; her love for knitting afghans for family and friends brought warmth to many, while baking pies, cakes, and creating jams from the raspberries she picked at the Cape exemplified her culinary talent and her desire to bring joy to those around her. Pauline also had an affinity for shopping, which only grew as she relished finding gifts for her grandchildren.

Her family includes her beloved husband, Richard E. Leveille of Hudson, MA, along with her children: Susan Bowen and her husband Robert of Hudson, MA; Howie Dunnells and his wife Tracy of Hudson, MA; and Darcy Simons and her husband Scott of Spencer, MA. Pauline shared a special bond with her twin sister, Jacqueline Boyle of Lynn, MA. She was a treasured grandmother to Kristen Curtin and her husband Patrick of Long Island, NY; Robbie Bowen and his fiancée Annie Boghigian of Hudson, MA; Scott Simons of Spencer, MA; Tyler Simons and his wife Karissa of Hampden, MA; Zachary Simons of Spencer, MA; Nicholas Simons of Spencer, MA; Howie Dunnells Jr. of Hudson, MA; Jocelyn Dunnells of Hudson, MA; and was a loving great-grandmother to Patrick and Maeve Curtin, as well as Maisley Simons. She also leaves her many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, James and Laura Eva "Joncas" Keough, and her first husband, Howard W. Dunnells in 1968. She was also predeceased by several siblings: Hazel Nichols, Martin Keough, Leo Keough, Ronald Keough, Nora Thorman, Dora Maki, Gladys Barrett, Mona McQuillen, and Joyce Wagner.

Pauline M. (Keough) Leveille will be remembered not only for her contributions to family and community but also for the love and light she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
