Peter M. Monaco, a cherished member of the Hudson community, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 20, 1945, in Waltham, MA, Peter was a proud son of Italian heritage, a trait that he embraced throughout his life, welcoming family and friends with warmth and hospitality.
Peter was a graduate of Waltham High School, class of 1964, after which he attended Bentley College in Waltham, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. His professional journey began at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he worked his way up to supervisor of the computer department, an integral predecessor to the modern IT department. He then enjoyed a fruitful career at Blue Cross & Blue Shield, serving as a data analyst for twenty years before retiring due to health reasons. Most recently, Peter was employed at Stop & Shop in Hudson, where he took great joy in assisting customers at their fuel station.
Peter was not only dedicated to his career but also to embracing life through his passions. He loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends, often bringing loved ones together over shared meals. An avid sports fan, he was involved in local bowling leagues and enjoyed golfing with friends. He also fondly remembered his time umpiring Babe Ruth Baseball games in Waltham, contributing to the community spirit that he cherished so deeply.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra J. "Lalley" Monaco, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. He leaves behind his son, Peter J. "Pete" Monaco and his wife, Elizabeth Harkins, of Denville, NJ, as well as a sister, Donna Doucet and her husband, Victor, of Hudson, MA, and a brother, John Monaco and his wife, Tina, of Waltham, MA. Peter will also be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Peter is preceded in death by his father, James Monaco Sr., his mother, Julia "DeSisto" Monaco, and two brothers, James Monaco Jr. and Joseph Monaco.
For those wishing to pay their respects, visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, located at 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Peter M. Monaco's legacy is marked by his unwavering love for his family, his contributions to his community, and memories that will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. His proudest accomplishments were his family, and in them, his spirit will always live on.
