Raymond Patrick Thompson
March 8, 1936 — August 17, 2026
Raymond Patrick Thompson, 90, a longtime resident of Hudson, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 17, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family.
Born on March 8, 1936, in New York City, Raymond was the son of the late Walter and Veronica (Moran) Thompson. He was predeceased by his siblings, Walter Thompson (and wife Margaret), Veronica Nolan (and husband John), Marie Carrol (and husband William), and Elizabeth Thompson.
Raymond was a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1966, where he studied business, and went on to earn his MBA from Anna Maria College.
On October 3, 1959, Raymond married Muriel Walsh, also of New York City. They shared 67 years of marriage built on a rare and unwavering love, guided always by their deep Catholic faith.
Raymond started his career at General Motors and spent the latter part of his career at Harvey Industries and also served as an adjunct professor of business at Anna Maria College. He took great pride in his role as President of the Boston College Evening College Alumni Association.
He proudly served in the United States Army and later volunteered as a firefighter on Long Island, New York. In Hudson, he volunteered his service to town initiatives and to Saint Michaels Parish. He was a devoted and lifelong Boston College sports fan — a passion that included closely following the career of his favorite player, Doug Flutie.
Above all, Raymond was a devoted husband and family man. He cherished his ever-expanding family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and there was no greater joy for him than hosting holidays and birthdays and gathering everyone together. A dedicated and practicing Catholic, he passed his faith on to his children and found comfort and guidance in it throughout his life. He also treasured the company of his many friends. Those who knew him will remember his calm demeanor and the patient, steady strength he brought to everything he did and his kind Irish heart.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Muriel (Walsh) Thompson, and their children:
Muriel Veronica Gravallese and her husband Anthony, of Wilmington, MA, and their children Raymond Gravallese (wife Lindsay, children Raymond and Callan), Stephen Gravallese (wife Jennifer, children Harper and Halle), and Jonathan Gravallese (wife Kirstin, children Logan and Jordan);
Frances Denise Thompson, of San Diego, CA;
Eileen Marie McAdoo and her husband Thomas, of Terryville, CT, and their children Ryan Thomas McAdoo (wife Elizabeth), Kathryn Jeanne McAdoo (fiancé Richard Hedger Jr., daughter Ellie), and Jamie McAdoo;
Nora Ellen Watkins and her husband Steve, of Northborough, MA, and their children Danielle Afable (husband Phil, son Samuel), Patrick Watkins, and Sean Watkins (wife Brianna);
Clare Therese Thompson, of Amesbury, MA, and her daughter Grace;
Mary-Anne Lazzaro and her husband Joe, of Hampstead, NH, and their children Kaleigh Lazzaro (wife Morgan Woods), Joseph Lazzaro, and Matthew Lazzaro;
Raymond Thompson and his wife Jennifer, of Southborough, MA, and their daughters Hailey Ryan, Hannah Rose, and Emma Kathryn Thompson;
and Jeanne Thompson Dyer and her husband Todd, of Sterling, MA, and their children Colman and McKenna Dyer.
Raymond will be so greatly missed by all who loved him — his calm demeanor, his patience, and the quiet strength he carried through life, guided always by his faith in God and Mother Mary.
