Richard Alan Aucoin, affectionately known as "Tweety," passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. Born on August 11, 1944, in Boston, MA, Richard led a life marked by dedication, warmth, and the deep love he held for his family and community.

Raised in Waltham, MA, Richard was a proud graduate of Waltham Vocational High School's class of 1962. His devotion to his hometown extended into his professional life, where he embarked on a remarkable career with the Department of Public Works in Waltham at the young age of 19. Over the course of 38 years, Richard’s expertise and leadership were a beacon of reliability and strength among his peers, culminating in his retirement as the Assistant Superintendent of the Street Department. His commitment and professionalism left an indelible mark on the department and those who worked alongside him.

Richard’s personal life was enriched by his enduring marriage to Greta M. (Youngquist) Aucoin, with whom he shared over 59 years of companionship and love. Together, they navigated life’s journey, spending many years in Waltham before relocating to Rock Hill, South Carolina, from 2006 to 2017. Finding it important to be near family, they later settled in Hudson, Massachusetts. Their shared travels took them to places like Las Vegas, where Richard enjoyed gambling and the excitement of the casinos, and St. Pete Beach, Florida, where they spent many winter months after his retirement.

Known for his outgoing spirit, Richard's friends and associates appreciated his humor and laughter, which he shared generously. He cherished leisure moments watching television and embraced the camaraderie of hockey, often playing two to three nights a week in his younger years. Above all, Richard took immense pride in his family and was steadfast in maintaining close connections with relatives and friends, a trait that highlighted his warmhearted nature.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife Greta; his sons Mark A. Aucoin and his wife Erin of Hopedale, MA; Timothy A. Aucoin of Chelmsford, MA, husband of the late Jennifer Aucoin; and Matthew R. Aucoin and his wife Kayla of South Berwick, ME; along with his sister Linda Lazaro and her husband Bernard Jr. of Hudson, MA. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Felicia Melo and her husband Shawn of Ayer, MA; Nick Aucoin of Chelmsford, MA; Rhiannon and Charlotte Aucoin of South Berwick, ME; Camden Marcotte of South Berwick, ME; as well as great-grandchild Ivy Mae Melo.
