Richard J. Cellucci, 84, of Hudson, Massachusetts, passed away on October 8, 2026. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Richard will be remembered for his quiet kindness, gentle nature, and unwavering love for his family.

Born to the late Argeo L. and Gertrude (Meschini) Cellucci, Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary (Toohey) Cellucci, the love of his life. From the moment he first laid eyes on Mary, Richard knew she was the woman he wanted to marry. What began as love at first sight grew into a beautiful lifetime of love, companionship, and devotion. Richard and Mary were truly inseparable, sharing life’s adventures, everyday moments, and, most importantly, the joy of raising their family. Their love for one another was evident to everyone who knew them and remains a beautiful example of a life built together.

Richard was also predeceased by his son, Richard J. Cellucci Jr.; his brother, Argeo R. Cellucci; and his sisters, Helen Rossi and Rosemary Cellucci.

He is survived by his son, James Cellucci and his wife, Cheryl, of Hudson; and his daughter, Catherine Cellucci of York, Maine. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Richard Cellucci, Christopher Cellucci, Gabriella Cellucci, Megan Scott, Kate Bonina and her husband, Joey, and Brian Scott.

A graduate of Hudson High School, Class of 1959, Richard continued his education at Boston University, graduating in 1963. He spent part of his working life at the family’s automobile dealership in Hudson and also owned and operated his own liquor store. Richard retired at a young age, giving him the opportunity to enjoy what mattered most to him — spending time with his family.

For Richard and Mary, their grandchildren were among life’s greatest blessings. Together, they created countless cherished memories, from trips to Disney World to time spent in Maine. They were their grandchildren’s biggest fans, proudly cheering from the sidelines at hockey and lacrosse games, track and wrestling meets, and dance recitals and competitions. Their presence was a constant reminder of how deeply their grandchildren were loved and supported.

Richard’s love of sports was something he eagerly shared with his children and grandchildren. Whether playing catch in the yard, stepping in as goalie, or taking the family to Boston University hockey games and Red Sox games, he found happiness in simply being together. It was never just about the game, but about the time spent with those he loved.

An avid reader who enjoyed keeping up with the news and current events, Richard had a quiet curiosity about the world around him. He was a man of few words compared to some, but his kindness, thoughtfulness, and respect for others spoke volumes. He never sought attention or recognition. Instead, he showed his love through his presence, his loyalty, and the countless ways he was always there for his family.

Richard’s greatest legacy is the family he and Mary built together and the love they instilled in generations to come. His life was a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful moments are often the simplest — time spent together, cheering from the sidelines, sharing a favorite pastime, and being there for the people who matter most.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
