Sharon M. Barrett

November 1, 1957 — March 8, 2026

Hudson, MA

Sharon M. Barrett, a devoted chemical engineer, loving wife, and cherished friend, passed away on March 8, 2026, at Marlborough Hospital. Born on November 1, 1957, in Somerville, MA, Sharon led a life marked by her unwavering dedication to both her professional work and her personal relationships.

Sharon graduated from Somerville High School in 1975 and soon began her illustrious career as a chemical engineer. She began her journey shortly after high school with the Polaroid Company, where her passion and expertise flourished. In her early 40s, she transitioned to work with Genzyme Company and later joined Boston Scientific, dedicating her skills and knowledge to these esteemed organizations until her retirement in 2024.

A person of quiet strength, Sharon was known for her honesty and kind-hearted nature. She led a modest and unassuming life, choosing to keep a small circle of close friends. When she welcomed someone into her life, she did so with unwavering loyalty and commitment. Her reserved personality often meant that not everyone gained entry into her world; however, those who did experienced a relationship grounded in trust and understanding.

Sharon was deeply passionate about causes close to her heart, particularly her commitment to Veterans. Alongside her beloved husband, Kevin J. Blanchard, whom she shared 24 wonderful years of marriage with, she often participated in Harley Davidson rides aimed at raising funds for local Veteran programs. This shared love for riding not only brought them closer together but also embodied their dedication to serving others.

In her leisure time, Sharon found joy in reading, often gravitating towards murder mystery novels while also exploring various topics that piqued her interest. She found immense pleasure in the frequent Harley motorcycle rides she took with Kevin, embracing the freedom and adventure those outings provided. Sharon also cherished the times spent with her K-9 friend "Smokey" who will miss her immensely.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Kevin J. Blanchard of Hudson, MA; her sister, Ellen Uttaro of Stoneham, MA; her brother, Michael Barrett of Somerville, MA; and her nieces, Joycelyn Chiodi and her husband Nicholas of Wakefield, MA, and Samantha Moulton and her husband Kevin of Salem, NH. She was the "Great Auntie" to Andrew, Aubree and Anthony; daughter in law to Catherine (Devlin) Blanchard of Hudson, MA and is also survived by her former brother-in-law who remained close to Sharon, Wayne Uttaro of Stoneham, MA along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John Barrett; her mother, Joyce (Ells) Barrett; and her brother, John Barrett.

Visitation will be held at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. A Funeral Service and Celebration of Sharon's Life will follow at 6:30 PM. Burial services will be private.

Sharon M. Barrett will be remembered not only for her professional achievements but also for her genuine spirit and the love she poured into her relationships and the causes she championed. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, commitment, and a resilient belief in the importance of valuing one's community.
