Shirley W. Price, 95 of Hudson, died peacefully, on November 16, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Sheffield, MA. She was the wife of the late John W. Price. They were childhood sweethearts and were married for 57 years.
Born in Tyrone, PA, she was the daughter of the late Geraldine and Earl Woomer and had lived in Pennsylvania until she moved to Hudson in 1964. Shirley was known for her sense of humor and good-natured pranks.
Shirley worked as a secretary for Sears and the Marlborough Enterprise Newspaper. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Hudson. She and her husband hosted Coffee Hour for many years and were well known for their delicious desserts.
Her hobbies were flower arrangements, playing cards, crossword puzzles, playing scratch tickets and the slots. She enjoyed football, especially the Patriots and Penn state. She loved boating and her home on the lake. She was seldom seen without her high heel shoes and nail polish. But, her greatest love by far was her family. Shirley and john loved to travel and made many memories on their trips to Hawaii, Aruba, and Europe.
She leaves her 2 daughters and 1 living son, Marsha & David Pottle of Sheffield, Bonnie & John DeRusha of Hudson and John & Charlene Price of Wareham, MA; 5 living grandchildren;14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Joyce Getz of Altoona, PA. She was predeceased by her son, James Price and her granddaughter, Jean Funk.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 11am -1pm on Monday, November 21, 2022, at The First United Methodist Church of Hudson, 34 Felton St., Hudson, MA; immediately followed by a Celebration of Shirley’s life at 1pm in the church. Burial will follow at Forest Vale Cemetery in Hudson.
