Steven F. Arenstrup

March 20, 1952 — May 2, 2021

Hudson

Steven F. Arenstrup, 69, of Hudson, MA, passed away unexpectedly at home on, May 2, 2021.

Steve leaves behind his wife Ada May Arenstrup (Coates), his two children, daughter Wendy (Arenstrup) Augun and her significant other, Tony Bairos of Berlin, MA, his son, Doug Arenstrup of Hudson and his significant other, his grandchildren, Lily and Jake Augun of Berlin, MA, his brother Richard Arenstrup and his significant other Donna Walker of Marston Mills, MA and Longboat Key, FL, his companion dog, Sam, and their other family dog, Monkey. Steve was predeceased by his parents Frederick & Edith (Dauphine) Arenstrup.

Steve was born in Boston, MA on the first day of Spring, March 20,1952, which is the date his mother chose for him.  After graduating from Lincoln - Sudbury Regional High School in 1971, he continued on to General Motor’s Auto Body Certificate Program.  Steve continued in autobody for 5 years, before beginning a 35-year career at Polaroid Corporation.  He worked there as a high speed machine operator, crew chief and mechanic.

Steve and Ada were high school sweethearts and together for

52 years. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, whether camping, kid’s sports, vacationing or just watching his family grow up.  His hobbies were 4-wheeling, camping with his truck, and later cruising in his GTO.  In his younger years he loved to go off-roading in the woods of Maine and the beaches of Cape Cod, creating lifelong friendships and the greatest travel buddies.  Steve enjoyed seeing the world on cruises and many other vacations.  In 2013, Steve suffered a debilitating brain injury, which resulted in him getting a companion dog, Sam, who helped him in his recovery.  Sam and Steve were inseparable.  They played fetch in the backyard every day - rain, snow, or sunshine.  Walking in the house you would find Steve brushing Sam’s bear-like coat or the two snuggling on the couch.  In his later years he loved NASCAR, the Patriots and the Red Sox but his “TRUE LOVE” was his classic car.  Steve also volunteered his time and skill during yearly Neighbor-to-Neighbor mission trips to Machias, Maine with Hudson’s United Methodist Church. Working on his car, spending time with a friend in his garage, and going to car shows became his life till the end.  His last comment was

“My car and my motorcycle start…I’m ready for the summer”.
