Suzanne F. (Fournier) Conrad, 81, of Hudson, MA, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Marlborough Hospital.
Suzanne was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Edgar and Francoise (Nadeau) Fournier. She was predeceased by her former husband, Carlton Conrad.
In 1947, Suzanne and her family relocated to Newport, VT, and later moved to Ipswich, MA, where she graduated from Ipswich High School. After briefly working as a waitress and bartender at her uncle’s tavern, Suzanne joined the United States Air Force, where she met her future husband Carlton and served honorably until 1966.
Following her discharge, the couple married and moved to Ohio, where Suzanne owned and operated a bridal boutique for several years. She later settled in Hudson, MA, in 1990 and worked at Stop & Shop until her retirement.
A proud veteran, Suzanne was a deeply committed and active member of the Hudson AMVETS Post 208. She served for several years as Commander, becoming a guiding force in the organization and a passionate advocate for veterans’ issues. Under her leadership, she helped organize numerous events, coordinated fundraisers, and led outreach efforts to support local veterans and their families. She was known for her compassion, dedication, and tireless volunteerism.
Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas gatherings were particularly meaningful to Suzanne, as she cherished opportunities to help others during the holiday season. She will be remembered for her deep love of community, her commitment to service, and her unwavering patriotism by all who knew her.
Suzanne is survived by her sister, Claudette V. Wright and her husband Wilfred of Oklahoma; her two brothers, William Beck of Massachusetts and Richard Brockelbank and his wife Deborah of North Carolina. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Monique Ware of Massachusetts, Wilfred Wright Jr. of Oklahoma, Tanya Manning of Massachusetts, Wendy Lescord of Massachusetts, Megan Brockelbank of Tennessee, and Mariah Brockelbank of Colorado, along with many other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Suzanne’s life with Military Honors on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. A visiting hour from 5:00 to 6:00 PM will be held prior to the service and a celebration of life immediately following will be held at the AMVETS Post 208, Hudson, MA. Burial services will be held privately.
