Wilfred Thompson Hood, Jr, 82, long time resident of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home in Allen, Texas with his family by his side.
Tom was born on December 11, 1942, in Marlborough, MA, son of the late Dr. Wilfred Thompson Hood, Sr and Marian E (MacLean) Hood. He was raised in Hudson and had many fond memories of his summers on Lake Boon and often shared stories claiming no one had a better childhood than he. He loved playing hockey and continued into his adult years playing in the “Old Timer League”. He attended high school at Cushing Academy and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver.
He was the beloved husband of the late Elena Katherine (Lymneos) Hood, with whom he shared a devoted marriage of 38 years. Their love story was one for the ages—filled with laughter, partnership, and quiet moments that spoke volumes. In his professional life, he was a dedicated sales representative and made many lasting friendships with all those he worked with.
Tom was a remarkable man with a kind soul who left a lasting impression on all those he met. He loved watching sports of any kind and had great fun sharing stats and facts about players. He always enjoyed a good game of poker, especially if he won, and often shared stories of memorable hands and the friends he made along the way.
Tom is preceded in death by his brother Peter Hood and his wife Patricia, and sister Christine (Hood) Hanson. He is survived by his 4 children Michelle Holt and her husband Rudi of Allen, TX, Charles Ballas and his wife, Diane of Worcester, MA, Christopher Hood of Tallahassee, FL and Heather Kidd and her husband Casey of Tallahassee, FL; 7 wonderful grandchildren, Brandon, Jaret, Abigail, Kaitlyn, Madison, Gabriella and Elena; and many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he cared about deeply.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in Forestvale Cemetery, Broad St., Hudson, MA. Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA are honored to assist with arrangements.
