William F. Madden, Sr.

February 26, 1936 — August 19, 2019

William (Bill) F. Madden, 83, passed away August 19, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born and raised in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the eldest son of the late Joseph L. Madden and Rosella D. (Mousette) Madden.  Bill was a graduate of Marlborough High School Class of 1954 and excelled in the vocational program.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Europe.  Bill worked as a mechanical engineer/model maker for Kidde-Fenwal for over 50 years.  Even in retirement he continued to do contract work for the company.  Bill was a member of the Eight Point Sportsmen’s Club and the Hudson-Concord Elks Lodge.

Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys, cookouts and gatherings with his entire family, and watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.  Bill could build or fix anything.  If there wasn’t a tool that could do a job, he would make one in his workshop.  As a labor of love, Bill designed and built his family home with his father and brother by his side.  Bill was a gentle, kind-hearted, and generous man who gave so much to so many.

Bill has reunited with the love of his life, the late Frances J. (Gaucher) Madden, and two of his sons, William F. and Michael W. Madden in eternal life.  Bill is survived by two of his children, Donna M. (Madden) Higgins and her husband Steven of Northborough MA and James R. Madden and his wife Tina of Woodstock CT; his daughter-in-law Heather (Lynch) Madden, wife of Michael; his cherished grandchildren – Karena, Mallory, Stacey, William, Bryan, Branden, Michael, and Jessica; his great-grandchildren – William, James, and John; his brother Joseph E. Madden and his wife Claudia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
