William “Liam” Thayer Marsh

September 8, 1998 — February 7, 2026

Hudson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose life, while far too short, left a lasting impact on those who knew and loved him. William “Liam” Thayer Marsh, formerly of Princeton and currently of Hudson, passed away in the ICU at UMass Worcester, after impressive and dedicated all hands on approach fight from the ICU floor 7 unit team on February 7, 2026, at the age of 27, due to complications related to alcoholism, surrounded by his sister Morgan and grandparents Lynne and Chris with thoughts and support of all family and friends from afar.

Liam was born on September 8, 1998. He spent his life surrounded by family and after the loss of his parents he lived with his grandparents, Gail and John Downing, in Hudson, the same home where he grew up alongside his siblings, Morgan and Tristan, creating a home filled with memories, laughter, and strong family bonds.

Liam endured more in his 27 years than many experience in a lifetime. As a child, he bravely battled leukemia from approximately age two to five, facing treatments and hospitalizations with strength and resilience with the help of Boston’s amazing Dana-Farber Children’s Hospital. Those early experiences shaped him in ways both visible and unseen.

Liam graduated from Hudson High School in 2017 and pursued his passion for cooking at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island in the culinary program. He had a natural talent and deep love for cooking and took great pride in preparing meals for family and friends.

Liam also had a lifelong passion for golf. He worked at Stow Acres Country Club, where he also provided golf instruction, and later served as Assistant Coach for the Hudson High School golf team getting to help assist the team he once played on all years of high school, sharing his love of the game and forming meaningful connections through the sport and getting to work with a coach he admired.

Over the last two and a half years, Liam struggled with alcoholism, a battle he ultimately lost. Addiction is complex, painful, and relentless. While it deeply affected Liam and those who loved him, it never defined the entirety of who he was as a person.

Liam was known for being sweet, stubborn, opinionated, sensitive, funny, and deeply caring. He could turn nearly any conversation into a spirited debate and had a remarkable ability to quote movies word for word, often reciting entire scenes with perfect timing. Liam formed deep connections with those around him and had an extraordinary number of people who loved and cared about him. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever.

Liam is predeceased by his parents Todd and Michelle Marsh in 2008, along with his grandfather, Richard DeBeradinis and great grandmother, Annette Millman.

He is survived by his siblings, Morgan Marsh and Tristan Marsh, Tristan’s fiancée, Rachael Kyle; his grandparents, Gail and John Downing, Lynne MacArthur, Chris Hansen, Warren Marsh, and Karen Marsh; Todd and Michelle‘s best friends Kierstin and Jim Smolinski who assumed the roles of an aunt and uncle, but really like extended parent figures; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and loved ones within the DeBeradinis, Downing, and Marsh families. He is also survived by close lifelong friends who were like brothers to him, Tristan Brooks and Reese Matisko.

Calling hours will be held at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA, on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hudson Elks, 99 Park Street, Hudson, MA, on Wednesday, February 11, at 12:00 PM.

Liam will be cremated, and his family will honor his wishes by creating a living memorial with a tree planted in his memory at the home of his grandparents, Gail and John Downing, where he spent much of his life. Our hearts go out to all who knew and loved him. His loss is shared by many, and his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched.
