He was known for his ability to repair almost anything and took pleasure in keeping everyone's vehicles running smoothly. He was skilled at all aspects of building and took pride in the log homes he built in Maine. He was a long time member of the Worcester Fox and Coon Club, the Marlboro Fish and Game and the Teamsters Local 170. His dry sense of humor and willingness to assist were hallmarks of his character.
