Barbara-ellen (Papas) Cesternino

January 12, 1948 — September 13, 2021

Barbara-ellen Cesternino

On Monday, September 13th, 2021 Barbara-ellen Cesternino left this earth unexpectantly at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Barbara-ellen, was also lovingly known as Cissi, Darlin’, or Bobbi by her family and closest friends. She was the proud daughter of the late Joseph Michael Papas and Elizabeth Hughes Papas of Philmont, NY. She was born on January 12, 1948, where she was raised on her family’s farms with beloved siblings; late sister Joanne Osterhoudt, sister Lorraine (John) Hoyla, brother Joseph Papas Jr. (Dale Patterson) and brother Andrew Papas (Carol).

She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Alexander Trakimas of Worcester, MA where they loved to sit on their front porch and enjoy the summer breeze, friendly neighbors, and most of all, each other’s company. ‘Darlin’ is also survived by her children: son Robert Cesternino (Leah), grandchildren; Zachary, Colin, Kaitlin and great granddaughter Ryuko Scarlet, Michael, Elizabeth, Luca, son Anthony Cesternino and grandson Christian, daughter Giovanna (Michael) Baird and grandchildren; Lilian, Sadie, Aubrey, Logan, and Callan. Darlin’ had many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins who were blessed with her larger than life personality. She is also survived by stepdaughter Alicia (Michael) Morse and grandson Andrew and stepdaughter Amy Trakimas.

As a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), Bobbi would often be active in genealogical research on behalf of D.A.R. in addition to her own personal family history. Before retiring, she was a very successful commercial property manager who had an outstanding ability to write a contract that would make any lawyer shiver.

Whatever name you chose to use to address her, ‘Darlin’ made a statement when she walked into a room. Whether it be her stunning beauty, extreme intelligence, or sharp-witted banter, she was a force to be reckoned with by all. She had a tenacious ability to laugh away any sad or disappointing moments and to keep everyone in check. Anyone who has spent any time with her knows that she was “taller” when she drank, and it would be quite appropriate to raise a glass of your favorite beverage to toast to “Lights Out Darlin’”. She was extremely devoted to her family and loved to dote on them all.

Her services will be held privately by family Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home in Hudson, MA after which she will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Maynard, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
