Donald J. Coletti

August 2, 1944 ~ August 23, 2023 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Donald Joseph Coletti, 79, of Berlin, MA, formerly of Hudson, MA, and Quincy passed away peacefully August 23rd, at home with family. Beloved husband of Maryann (Whalen), father of Donald Coletti and wife Cindy, Amy Coletti and husband Douglas Shorten, Jennifer Killilea and husband Tim, Jonathan Coletti, Sarah Auclair and husband Michael, Lindsay Tatnall and husband Gregory. Also survived by fifteen adoring grandchildren Amber Lavallee, Cole and Ty Coletti, Lily Gieske, Sam and Lucas Shorten, Mary, Camdyn, and John Killilea, Jack and Sara Gulezian, Declan Coletti, Decker Auclair, Cooper and Sawyer Tatnall; and one great-grandchild Max Olivencia. Predeceased by his brother Arthur Coletti of Abington, and his parents.

Don was born August 2, 1944, to Donato and Rita (Dalton) Coletti in Quincy, MA. He lived in Quincy for the early part of his life before moving to Weymouth with his mother and brother, after the passing of his father. Don attended Weymouth Public Schools, excelling in football and basketball through his sophomore year in high school. His athletic talents then took him to Wilbraham & Munson Academy, and then Newman Prep in Boston. It was there where he met the love of his life, Maryann.

Later, Don majored in business at Boston University, while continuing to shine on the football field. Following graduation, Don and Maryann were married in the spring of 1967.  Three years later, they settled down in Hudson, where they raised their six children and would live happily for 47 years. Don took immense pleasure being involved in the lives of his children, especially with their sports. In addition to being one of the founders of Hudson Youth Football, Don enjoyed coaching various youth baseball and soccer teams. He also was the coach of the girls’ tennis team at Hudson High School for several years, where he proudly coached daughters Sarah and Lindsay.

Don, always friendly, easily made friends wherever he went. However, there was no denying that he was happiest while by his family’s side. Don and Maryann spent their 56 years of marriage cherishing life with their children, grandchildren, dear old friends, and neighbors from Champlain Drive. Many memories were made while Don and Maryann enjoyed cruises, traveling with friends, and summer vacations in Wellfleet. Being the athletic couple they were, through the years Don and his loving wife skied, played weekly tennis matches, and golfed together; with golf trips across New England and to Myrtle Beach having special meaning to them.
